Motorized capacitor on my loop
Since I managed to obtain a vacuum capacitor to tune the loop, it became apparent that it was time to motorize it and allow for remote control. When using a motor to drive the capacitor, it is important to limit the total travel. I implemented 2 microswitches that are actuated by a brass bar that travels on the motor spindle. This way, it was easy to set the limits for minimum and maximum capacity. The picture below shows the whole contraption on the workbench :

Here's the test setup mounted on the loop. I used 22mm brass endcaps on the loop conductor and some heavy straps to connect the loop to the capacitor :

For test purposes, I used a little DPDT switch to run the motor backwards and forward until I am ready to hook up the remote control unit. The switch is shown just under the motor.
